Introductions by:
Eileen McDonnell - President of MetLife's New England Financial
Eileen McDonnell was recently named president of New England Financial, and has overall responsibility for field recruiting and training, advanced markets, strategic planning, expense management and field compensation for the MetLife, GenAmerica Financial and New England Financial distribution channels.
Prior to joining MetLife earlier this year, Ms. McDonnell was senior vice president and head of individual insurance at Guardian Life Insurance Company and the first female senior VP in the company's 140 year history. In that capacity, she was responsible for retail distribution, product development, marketing and operations. Earlier in her career, Ms. McDonnell spent nearly ten years at AXA Financial.
Jyoti Chopra - Merrill Lynch, Multicultural and Diversified Business Development
Merrill Lynch (NYSE: MER) recently announced the formation of a new business unit, Multicultural and Diversified Business Development, with Jyoti Chopra to run business strategy for the group. The group, part of U.S. Private Client, has been formed to help establish Merrill Lynch as the top wealth management firm among diverse and multicultural markets. To accomplish this, Ms. Chopra will be responsible for developing new client relationships through creative and innovative sales and marketing strategies aimed at diverse communities. Integral to their efforts is building local, community programs and partnerships within diverse markets. "To be successful in today's global community, it is necessary to recognize, act upon, and support the diverse needs of our multicultural communities," said Chopra. "One size does not fit all. We must think globally, bringing the full-force of our extensive resources to act locally, supporting one community at a time."
Creighton Lee, IBM - Market Development Executive for black owned business division
Nearly every person of an ethnic, non-Caucasian, origin has at some point asked himself or herself "who does that advertisement represent"? This is often promptly followed by the decision not to make waves. Stick with the status quo and accept what is done, how it is done and how it has been done for years.
As an advocate and active participant in initiatives that have supported and empowered minorities, my 20-year tenure at IBM and Manager of the 'Black Owned Business' division, I have seen first hand the problematic inadequacies of minority marketing.
