Andrea Ogunkoya is thirty years old and moved to New York ten years ago having lived in West Africa and England and traveled extensively worldwide. Born mixed race, Nigerian/English with a life rich with African culture and integrated into family businesses and entrepreneurial spirit from an early age.

In 1984, due to the political unrest in Nigeria, moved to the little country town of Burnley in Lancashire, England where she would attended Walshaw High School - in keeping with the family tradition and following in the footsteps of her mother. Being the only black kid in school did not stop her from forging friendships that would last a lifetime.

Creative interests soon begun to show as demonstrated by an artistic award from Cadbury's and subsequent national tour of a medieval sculpture. Completing secondary school education with 10 GCSE's (General Certificate of Secondary Education) and went on to Manchester College of Arts and Technology where she completed an impressive 4 'A Levels' in Government and Politics, English Literature, Archaeology and Sociology. In 1990 Andrea was accepted into Thames Valley University in Ealing, London where she studied for an LLB (BA) in Law.

In 1994 Andrea was recruited by the largest wholesaler for CellularOne (now AT&T Wireless Services) with an opportunity to work in America and made the exciting transatlantic move that would mark the start of a career in marketing.

Going on to work as a Senior Marketing Specialist for Nortel Networks, responsible for an $8 million dollars annual budget and later offered a lucrative position with Cisco Systems, which she rejected opting instead for adventure and opportunity over security and fortune.

Andrea currently works for MSCO, a marketing agency dedicated to growing businesses, and works with a diverse client mix such as Guardian Life Insurance where she created their highly acclaimed corporate women's initiative "women in Power", which she went on to win several awards for, including a 2003 Communicator Award of Distinction.

Andrea's career has encompassed many promotions and the benefit of working with large and small organizations and producing marketing materials for varied audiences. She has been involved in every stage of the sales and marketing cycle and has conducted marketing based on extremely limited budgets as well as limitless budgets. Andrea has approached industries crossing a wide range of platforms including healthcare, telecommunications, retail, apparel, finance, and with diligent research and study gained a detailed understanding to enable the production of creative and solid comprehensive marketing campaigns, that are not merely cosmetic - but focused almost exclusively on the clients bottom line and increasing profitability. Objectives are achieved. Sales are made. Goals are met.

Andrea has also worked with numerous non-profit organizations including (The Arthritis Foundation, The Child Abuse Prevention Center and Aids Related Community Services) and is an avid tennis player, skier, cyclist and beach lover.

She stands now with eleven years of diverse, global business development, sales and marketing executive experience with global giants such as AT&T, Nortel Networks and professional affiliations with marketing Executives from IBM, Phillip Morris and Dupont.

Throughout an eleven-year marketing career Andrea has observed the manner in which minorities are positioned from a personal awareness deeply rooted in her diverse cultural heritage to a professional viewpoint with an understanding of target markets and the need to adapt to an ever-changing market place. It is from this unique perspective that bridges corporate culture, marketing and race and that she is able to observe, critique and solve the mystery surrounding minority marketing.

Andrea's client writing has been published in the Westchester Journal News, on CBS Marketwatch and small national publications. Challenged for years by her ongoing recommendations to portray ethnic diversity in client marketing initiatives, "Minority Marketing" is based on her experience, frustrations and observations.

Andrea is currently working on several other projects, including her second book related to marketing during an economic, social and political crisis.
